Thomas Psarianos is a highly experienced public servant, policy professional, and a lifelong Ward 3 resident running to bring practical experience, strong local roots, and serious leadership to Markham City Council.

Born and raised in Ward 3, Thomas attended Unionville Public School and has seen Markham grow from a small town into one of Canada’s most dynamic and diverse cities. His connection to the community is deeply personal. It is where he grew up, where he learned the value of service, and where he has spent more than a decade giving back as an umpire with the Markham District Baseball Association. Thomas currently works in the office of Ontario’s Solicitor General, where he has developed direct experience in public safety governance,  accountability, and deeply understands the importance of strong local institutions and police services.

Previously, Thomas worked at the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, where he supported policy communication, stakeholder engagement, wrote speeches, drafted press releases, engaged in community outreach, and constituency work. He also served as a Policy Analyst with Transport Canada, contributing to federal transportation policy, stakeholder consultations, regulatory analysis, and infrastructure-related decision-making in Canada’s freight rail sector. This makes him the only Ward 3 candidate with experience in both government and transportation policy.

Thomas holds a Master of Global Affairs from the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, where his academic work focused on global policy and innovation policy. He was selected as one of only 15 students to complete an intensive field study at the European Parliament, European Commission, and NATO Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. He was also chosen to deliver the final graduation address at his Master of Global Affairs convocation.

At the University of Toronto, Thomas was elected by his peers to serve on the Graduate Education Council and the Graduate Academic Appeals Board, the university’s second-highest appeals body. He also worked as a Teaching Assistant in the Departments of Religion and Philosophy, supporting undergraduate students, leading tutorials, and receiving multiple nominations for teaching excellence.

Thomas is running on a practical, community-focused platform cented on responsible growth, safer streets and neighbourhoods, better traffic and transit planning, respect fortaxpayers, stronger city services, and protecting the quality of life that makes Markham a great place to live. He believes Ward 3 deserves a councillor who understands the community, brings significant experience, takes public safety seriously, and is ready to work hard for families, seniors, small businesses, and residents across Ward 3.
